Tyrese says Dwayne Johnson is to blame for Fast 9 delay

While the Fast and Furious franchise has always taught the importance of family, they themselves have been no stranger to what families do best, and that’s fight. Just last year during the production of Fast 8, there seemed to be a feud brewing between costars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. Even though it seemed that was dispelled and taken care of, Tyrese Gibson still didn’t feel it was completely done at that time.

Fast forward to a year and a half later, and now there seems to be more trouble bubbling up. Earlier in September, Tyrese had a now-deleted Instagram post (seen below) practically begging Dwayne Johnson not to delay Fast and Furious 9. This being because Johnson is also working on doing a spinoff of his character Hobbs.

Well it seems his pleas fell on deaf ears as Universal announced that the next Fast iteration would in fact be delayed until April 19, 2020. Not only that, but the Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson spinoff would be releasing a year earlier on July 26, 2019. Needless to say, this didn’t sit well with Tyrese as he took to Instagram once again to express his displeasure.

So far Johnson has yet to respond, but this doesn’t bode well for the franchise. If things aren’t settled before production starts (which is still a ways away), who knows what the feeling will be like on set. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how things play out, and hope that tensions end up dissipating. Are you excited for Fast and Furious 9? Let us know in the comments below.
