New Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer confirms it as a prequel

It’s been almost a year since Rockstar graced us with the first trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2. From then though, we haven’t really seen or heard much of anything regarding the game. Well there was one thing, and that was hearing the game was delayed from Fall 2017 and pushed back to Spring 2018. That changes today, as Rockstar has given us the second trailer for Red Dead 2, and there is so much to salivate over.

In the trailer we see Arthur Morgan, the anti-hero you’ll be playing as, rustling up folks and being a menace to society. It seems the law is after him and his gang. There are 2 defining things to note about the gang and its leader. The first comes courtesy of the official description:

“The story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.”

The Van der Linde gang…why does that sound familiar? The second thing to note is who Morgan is speaking to and addresses at the end of the trailer: Dutch. Put those together and you have Dutch Van der Linde, the infamous leader and gang that you hunted down as John Marston in the original Red Dead Redemption. Given that he was in fact killed in Red Dead, it eludes to Red Dead 2 being a prequel. Does this mean we might see John Marston running with the gang? Maybe, but we’ll just have to wait and find out.

Red Dead Redemption 2 hits stores in Spring 2018.
