Matt Mira announced as host for CBS All-Access’ After Trek

Star Trek: Discovery launches on television and streaming this Sunday night. Following the series, CBS will air the live companion after-show, After Trek with Nerdist’s Matt Mira as host. The show will stream live after series with this episode to include stars Sonequa Martin-Green (First Officer Burnham), James Frain (Sarek), and co-showrunner and executive producer Aaron Harberts.

The series, based on a similar format to AMC’s Talking Dead, will be a weekly forum for Trek fans to hear in-depth discussions, recaps, and behind-the-scenes details of what just happened. Mira, who was announced earlier today, will lead the discussion in the studio with cast and crew of Star Trek: Discovery. Fans can interact with the cast and crew by using the hashtag #AfterDark.

The first episode will be available on CBS All-Access on Sunday, September 24th at 11:00pm ET/8:00pm PT. Starting Sunday, October 1st, all subsequent After Trek episodes will air at 9:30pm ET/6:30pm PT live. All episodes will be available to CBS All-Access subscribers.

Star Trek: Discovery Official Synopsis:

Star Trek: Discovery will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new life forms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself.

The series will feature a new ship and new characters while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

Produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller’s Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment, the cast consists of Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, Chris Obi, Shazad Latif, James Frain, and Mary Chieffo. Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers.

 Star Trek: Discovery will premiere in the U.S. on CBS All Access Sunday, Sept. 24, following a broadcast premiere on the CBS Television Network.
