New Godfather Trilogy box set coming to Blu-ray on November 7

The Godfather - Movie Poster

Before Goodfellas and “The Sopranos”, there was The Godfather. Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola’s trilogy is considered to be the prototype for modern day gangster films. In addition, The Godfather and The Godfather, Part II is considered by many as some of the greatest films ever made. The Godfather, Part III… Well, not so much but that’s beside the point.

Now, Paramount is releasing a limited edition “Omertà” edition of the trilogy to help celebrate The Godfather‘s 45th anniversary. Thankfully, since I’m not a part of La Cosa Nostra, the omertà (the Italian mafia’s sacred code of silence) rule don’t apply to me. Thus, I can freely speak to you as to what’s inside The Godfather Trilogy: Omertà Edition.

The Godfather Trilogy: Omertà Edition hits stores on November 7th.

Paramount will only be releasing 45,000 copies of The Godfather Trilogy: Omertà Edition to the public. Each edition will be numbered and include the 2008 Coppola Restoration of The Godfather and The Godfather, Part II. Additionally, the box set will also include the remastered version of The Godfather, Part III.

As far as the special features are concerned, it will include a full disc of in-depth special features that were previously released. The set will also include commentary by Coppola on all three films. The box set collectibles will include exclusive trivia cards, magnetic poetry, an anatomy of a scene fold out, and quote cards. On top of all that, you get a fancy bit of packaging to complete your set. It’s the kind of box set suitable for the biggest Godfather fan.

The Godfather Trilogy: Omertà Edition

If you’re one of the people who haven’t seen The Godfather before, then I highly suggest that you do. That’s because The Godfather is considered to be one of the very best films ever made. The film won 3 Academy Awards—including Best Picture—and has reached AFI’s top American films of all-time on several occasions. The Godfather, Part II is one of the few rare sequels that possibly could top the originaldepending on who you ask. The film won 6 Academy Awards—including Best Picture. However, The Godfather, Part III is something that I will leave up to your interpretation.
