Crunchyroll Expo’s diverse guests of honor

Crunchyroll Expo is rolling in with a wide variety of featured guests! From guests of honor to creators and animators, cosplayers and voice actors, and even people of influence, this first year looks promising.

Their current guest of honor list includes:

Kore Yamazaki

Mangaka Kore Yamazaki is the creator (artist and writer) of the highly anticipated anime The Ancient Magus’ Bride, set to simulcast this fall. Since the serialization of this series in 2015, it has enraptured audiences worldwide and has even been ranked by the New York Times as a best-seller.

Johnny Weir

Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir will join Crunchyroll’s first expo to speak on figure skating anime Yuri on Ice, which recently became a global phenomenon since its release last year. Yuri on Ice has captured positive responses from many professional figure skaters for its portrayal of the sport, and Weir is one of the most well-known fans of the series. Adam Savage

Adam Savage is an American industrial and SFX designer and TV personality. He was the co-host of MythBusters and Unchained Reaction. His model work has been used in major film works, including Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Galaxy Quest, Space Cowboys, The Matrix Reloaded, and many more.

Yoshitaka Amano

Prominent artist Yoshitaka Amano will be in attendance with a special gallery show at Crunchyroll Expo this year. He is most well-known for his character designs and illustrations for many bestselling series, including the Final Fantasy series, Vampire Hunter D, and The Guin Saga. Other artistic talents include being a theatre/film scenic designer and costume designer.

Hiroshi Shimizu

Talented animator Hiroshi Shimizu has worked at a wide variety of studios and many well-known animated titles. He has worked at Studio Ghibli, Madhouse, Ankama Japan, TMS, Production IG, TOEI Animation, WIT STUDIO, Shin Ei Studio, and is now currently at Yapiko-Animation. Famous titles include Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, FLCL, Ghost in the Shell, One Piece, Lupin, Naruto, and Dragonball Z.
