Ruth Negga is really making a name for herself in Hollywood. After making appearances in several television shows and movies like World War Z and Warcraft, she landed the job as one of the main characters, Tulip O’Hare, on AMC’s Preacher which is based on the comic book. Soon after that, she received Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominations for her touching portrayal of Mildred Loving in Jeff Nichol’s Loving. But now it’s time to play with the big boys. Negga is set to star alongside A-listers Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones in James Gray’s upcoming sci-fi epic Ad Astra.

Although there are no details about Negga’s role, the movie is being described as an adventure film about one man’s journey across a lawless and unforgiving solar system to find his missing father, a renegade scientist who poses a threat to all of mankind.

The movie will mark yet another partnership between New Regency and Plan B. The companies have had great success working together in the last few years, producing acclaimed movies like 12 Years a Slave and The Big Short. Besides Ad Astra, they’re also working on the upcoming Wrong Answer which will be directed by Creed‘s Ryan Coogler and will star Michael B. Jordan with a screenplay from Ta-Nehisi Coates.

On top of directing Ad Astra, Gray is the co-writer on the film with Ethan Gross. New Regency, 20th Century Fox and Bona Film Group are financing the film with Fox distributing in the U.S. and internationally in every market except Greater China, where Bona Film Group will distribute the project.

Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are producing under their Plan B banner with RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira, Keep Your Head Productions’ Anthony Katagas, and Gray. Mad River’s Marc Butan and RT’ Features’ Lourenco Sant’Anna and Sophie Mas are executive producing along with Yu Dong, Jeffrey Chan, Anthony Mosawi and Paul Conway.

Gray’s underperforming but critically acclaimed Lost City of Z came out earlier this year and you can see Ruth Negga on the second season of Preacher which is currently airing on Monday nights on AMC.
