A taste of PvP monster hunting with Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown

Crytek Hunt: Showdown
It’s a good time to be a PvP FPS fan, especially with games like Overwatch and Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds to keep gamers occupied. And it’s also a good time to be a cooperative gameplay fan thanks to games like Left 4 Dead. Now we have another game on the horizon that will amplify the genre called Hunt: Showdown, which is being developed by Crytek (Crysis). It’s a match-based PvP monster hunter game that really ramps up the intensity.

Imagine yourself with one friend as you try to capture a bounty. However, creepy creatures and other teams of online players are in your way. Now you’ll need to figure out the best strategy to getting the bounty while also staying alive to deliver it. It’s best to play with a friend, as you two will go up against other teams of two.

All the teams are tasked with capturing the same bounty, and between the teams and the bounty are creatures waiting in the night. Stealth is key as you and your buddy navigate to the destination while trying to survive. The world is pretty dynamic, as you can choose whether you want to engage enemies or bypass them to focus on the mission. Once you get to the bounty, the location will be shown to other players, so you better hurry your ass and deliver it before the calvary arrives. In addition, a match can last from 20 to 40 minutes.

Check out the gameplay video below to get a feel for the game’s terrifying atmosphere. Watch as creative director Magnus Larbrant and level design director Chris Auty go on a mission to hunt a giant spider in a Louisiana swamp. The match we’re seeing is an 8-minute round that showcases the mood, tension, and player tactics.

Hunt: Showdown will be available for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
