Doctor Who releases Christmas Special teaser trailer

BBC America has released the Doctor Who Christmas Special teaser trailer, titled ‘Twice Upon A Time,’ today during the Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con today.

The trailer opens with some footage from the first episode of The Tenth Planet, the First Doctor’s final story before his regeneration, which was near the International Space Command at the South Pole on Earth in December 1986. The trailer then shows both the 12th (Peter Capaldi) and 1st Doctor (played by David Bradley), revealed the Doctors meeting at one point as they both are running away from the inevitable: regeneration. Together, they are stuck in a moment in time with a World War I soldier called The Captain (Mark Gatiss) and must find a way to restore it back to normal.

This 1966 four-part adventure saw the first appearance of the Cybermen and a regeneration for the first incarnation of the Time Lord, as played by William Hartnell.

Based on the trailer, it seems that the First Doctor’s companion, Polly (originally played by Anneke Wills), will be in the episode. Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) returns for the sweet reunion for the Christmas Special. This will mark Capaldi’s final episode before his regeneration into the new Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker.

Bradley, who played William Hartnell / The First Doctor in the docudrama Doctor Who: An Adventure in Time and Space, returns to play the First Doctor for the Christmas Special. He was seen in the season finale running into the 12th Doctor.

It was previously announced that Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) will also return for the episode as they say goodbye to the 12th Doctor.
