Find the clues in the official trailer of Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express’

“My name is Hercule Poirot and I am probably the greatest detective in the world.”

We’ve seen our share of detectives, from Monk to Dick Tracy, Psych to Murder, She Wrote. Between TV and film, there have been so many iterations of masterclass investigators that anyone new brought to the masses have difficulty living up. But none of these private eyes – new or old – could ever outshine some of the classic characters created first in literature and adapted to film and TV. Characters such as Edgar Allen Poe’s Auguste Dupin, Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe, and most famously Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. Now we can add Hercule Poirot to the list!

This morning, 20th Century Fox has released the official trailer for the upcoming adaptation, Murder on the Orient Express. The film, directed by Kenneth Branagh, contains a star-studded cast consisting of Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Willem Dafoe, Penélope Cruz, Judi Dench, and Branagh himself portraying the famed literary sleuther, Hercule Poirot.

Based on the detective novel by Agatha Christie, the mysterious journey unfolds as a lavish trip through Europe quickly unfolds into a race against time to solve a murder aboard a train. Everyone’s a suspect as Detective Hercule Poirot sifts through thirteen strangers to find the killer before another person ends up dead.

The novel has had several adaptations, from video games to TV movies. The most famous adaptation came about in 1974, starring incredible talents such as Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Vanessa Redgrave, Albert Finny, and Sean Connery. 84-year old Christie was able to attend the world premiere of the film, enthralled with the finished product, and stating that Finny’s portrayal of Hercule Poirot was the closest to her idea of the character.
