Dwayne Johnson being eyed by Universal for Wolfman role in Dark Universe

Universal has been hard at work trying to piece together a grand Monster Universe franchise akin to how Marvel and DC have their own respective universes. They’ve actually come up with a name for everything, as it’s notw being dubbed the “Dark Universe.” Everything is being kicked off with Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe (as Dr. Jekyll) in the reboot of The Mummy. From there, we’ll also see Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man and Javier Bardem as Frankenstein’s monster. Other monsters to be included are Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and of course the Wolfman.

The Hollywood Reporter is saying there are rumors that Universal has their eye on Dwayne Johnson to fulfill the role of Wolfman. We still have yet to hear from Johnson himself, as everything is unconfirmed and still rumor. Johnson and Universal already have a fairly good relationship due to the Fast & Furious franchise, so I doubt it would be hard at all for them to convince him to go for the role. I think it would be interesting to see him in that universe, especially among the caliber of talent already lined up.

For now though, we’ll just have to wait and see how things pan out first with Tom Cruise and The Mummy. Also check out the new motion logo Universal will run for the Dark Universe prior to each film. And yes, it is scored by the phenomenal Danny Elfman. Check it out for yourself below.
