Wonder Woman dominates DCEU and MCU films on Rotten Tomatoes

Wonder Woman - Poster #4
Rotten Tomatoes is a site that aggregates reviews from several different media outlets. And a common theme is that people praise it when their favorite film is fresh. However, if their favorite film is rotten, many will bash the site. Whether you like it or not, it’s still a valuable site for many moviegoers. In any case, the DC Extended Universe films have been getting rotten reviews. For example, Man of Steel is 55%, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is 28%, and Suicide Squad is 25%. Wonder Woman has now changed the DCEU game with a very fresh rating of 97% at the time of this writing. Not only is it the highest-rated DCEU film, but it also beat out all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Wonder Woman has been receiving positive momentum, especially with critics and outlets giving it an early positive reaction a couple weeks ago. (In addition, we even gave it a glowing review.)

The top MCU film is Iron Man, and that one had a 94% rating. Second place is The Avengers with 92% and third is Guardians of the Galaxy with 91%.

Patty Jenkins on Keeping Wonder Woman Close to Her Comic Book Origin

“I always wanted it to stay a very simple origin story,” Jenkins said (via LA Times). “I believe in Wonder Woman and the true spirit of Wonder Woman, and I wanted to tell that story. I didn’t want to make her an alt version of Wonder Woman. I think that what Wonder Woman stands for is gorgeous and incredible. And so that was it. That’s what I wanted to do.”

Synopsis: Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Patty Jenkins (Monster) directs with Gal Gadot portraying Diana Prince and Chris Pine as Steve Trevor.

Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2, 2017.
