Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack coming to the Nintendo Switch
Azure Striker Gunvolt is heading to the Nintendo Switch in August. Developer Inticreates announced during the BitSummit in Kyoto that it will be re-releasing the Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack with a few upgrades. It was originally released back in October on the Nintendo 3DS. The Striker pack featured both Azure Striker Gunvolt and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 on a single 3DS cart.
It won’t be a simple port of the Nintendo 3DS version. Both games will include a new screen layout, HD Rumble support, along with high-resolution event graphics and in-game text. A new theme song by the virtual idol Lumen (VA: Megu Sakuragawa) is being added, along with all of the 3DS’s DLC content and finally a few balance changes.
The game will also see an upgrade to 60 FPS. “Since the 3DS game was created with an emphasis on the visual aspects of the game, it was only able to run at 30 FPS on that system. Thanks to more powerful new hardware, 60 FPS Gunvolt is here for the first time,” said Inti Creates. “The biggest difference between the former 30 FPS and the new 60 FPS can be felt while playing as Copen, the super-quick, high-flying playable character from Gunvolt 2.”
Mighty Gunvolt Burst!
That’s not all. Inticreates also revealed Mighty Gunvolt Burst! The sequel to Mighty Gunvolt lets you play as either Gunvolt or Beck from Mighty No. 9.
From what we can tell from the trailer, Mighty Gunvolt Burst looks like a remake of Mighty No. 9, except using 16-bit graphics. Featuring hundreds of collectible items and a deep character customization system, it seems like this might be the Mighty No.9 game we should have gotten from the start.
Both the Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack and Mighty Gunvolt Burst will be released as digital-only titles.
Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack will be released on August 31st. Mighty Gunvolt Burst is set for a release on June 15th for the Nintendo Switch and June 29th for the Nintendo 3DS.
