Prey demo now available on PS4 and Xbox One

If you have the Playstation 4 or Xbox One, you can now play the first hour of Prey for free! The game is a reimagining of the original 2006 first-person shooter by Human Head Studios. It is developed by Arkane Studios, the team that brought us Dishonored and Dishonored 2.

You play as Morgan Yu, the lead scientist aboard the Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon. As humanity’s only hope, you are tasked with taking out the alien threat comprised of different species known as Typhon. You will be exploring the station that pretty much acts as an open world, so there won’t be separate levels.

In the Prey Demo: Opening Hour, you’ll get a taste of what Morgan Yu will have to go up against. You are working on a project that will help change humanity, but that quickly falls apart when the aliens overwhelm the station. They are hoping to hunt down the Talos I crew members, with their final destination being Earth. Yes, that will mean the end of your world as you know it.

However, there are lots of fans who aren’t happy about the demo. Why? Well, the demo is only available for the PS4 and Xbox One. There are a lot of upset PC gamers, and they have been voicing their displeasure (via NeoGaf). Some are concerned that having no demo on the PC is a sign that the PC version is going to have poor performance. Let’s see if this will affect PC sales.

Our very own Chris del Castillo had a chance to play the game. Here are his thoughts: “A fun experience where you don’t know what is real and what is waiting to jump out and attack you. Depending on your choices, your gameplay experience will be different every time. From what I’ve experienced with one section of the game, I didn’t have any problems. And that was only a small piece of the entire story.”

Prey will be available worldwide on Friday, May 5, 2017, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
