Sorry, Nathan Lane & Ernie Sabella. Billy Eichner & Seth Rogen taking over as Timon and Pumbaa in ‘Lion King’

The Lion King Timon and Pumbaa
Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella brought Timon and Pumbaa to life in Disney’s classic animated film, The Lion King, back in 1994. The film became a huge hit and the two together added humor to the film’s dark story about a lion reclaiming his throne from his evil uncle. Now with the upcoming “live-action” The Lion King on the horizon from director Jon Favreau, casting news is ramping up. We have a report from The Wrap that Disney has found its new meerkat and warthog. Billy Eicher (Billy on the Street) and Seth Rogen (This Is the End) are in final negotiations to play Timon and Pumbaa, respectively. Hakuna matata!

Yes, Timon and Pumbaa are best known for their buddy song, “Hakuna Matata.” The song taught Simba about how he shouldn’t take life too seriously. If an evil uncle has taken over your home, simply shrug it off and live on with your life. However, we all know that Simba decided that he can’t run away from his past. Thanks, Rafiki!

The Lion King will star Donald Glover as Simba, with James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, Simba’s father.

The Lion King film has no release date yet.

So what do you all think about Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eicher as Timon? Let us know in the comments section below.
