NR writers rank Star Wars movies from best to worst

With Star Wars Celebration happening in Orlando, Fl. this week, it might be fun to rank the seven mainline Star Wars movies. Few people will agree this is a simple task, as topics are rarely more hotly debated than anything related to Star Wars.

Rather than tackle this article alone, it will make more sense to include the Nerd Reactor team.

So here it is. Down below, various writers on this staff organize their favorite Star Wars movies from best to worst.

John ‘Spartan’ Nguyen
1) The Empire Strikes Back – So many cool moments including Darth Vader reveal, Luke losing his hand, and Han being imprisoned.
2) The Force Awakens
3) A New Hope – It’s the one that introduced us to a galaxy far, far away.
4) Return of the Jedi
5) Revenge of the Sith – The fight between Obi-wan and Anakin.
6) Phantom Menace – Darth Maul is a badass.
7) Attack of the Clones

Reinier Macatangay
1) The Empire Strikes Back – As John mentioned, too many epic scenes to ignore.
2) Return of the Jedi – Lightsaber battles filled with tension.
3) A New Hope
4) Revenge of the Sith – Lucas finally improved in the third prequel.
5) The Force Awakens
6) The Phantom Menace
7) Attack of the Clones – The least loved among this staff.

Mark Pacis
1) A New Hope
2) The Empire Strikes Back

Alger Theodore Kat

2) The Force Awakens
3) A New Hope
4) Return of the Jedi

Everything else: Garbage.
(Editor’s note: Rogue One was included, but is not one of the seven numbered movies.)

2) The Empire Strikes Back
3) The Force Awakens
4) Return of the Jedi
5) Revenge of the Sith
6) The Phantom Menace
7) Attack of the Clones

Robert Galvan
1) The Empire Strikes Back – Same reasons as above for putting on top.
2) A New Hope
3) The Force Awakens – Poor main characters.
4) Revenge of the Sith
5) Return of the Jedi
6) The Phantom Menace
7) Attack of the Clones

Brian Chu
1) A New Hope
2) Return of the Jedi
3) The Empire Strikes Back
4) The Force Awakens
5) Attack of the Clones
6) The Phantom Menace
7) Revenge of the Sith

Joey Ferris
1) The Empire Strikes Back
2) A New Hope
3) The Force Awakens
4) Return of the Jedi
5) Revenge of the Sith
6) The Phantom Menace
7) Attack of the Clones

Laura Sirikul
1) The Empire Strikes Back
2) The Force Awakens
3) A New Hope
4) Return of the Jedi
5) Revenge of the Sith
6) Attack of the Clones
7) Phantom Menace

Poor Attack of the Clones. No one ranked it higher than fifth. The prequels, in general, scored low with our writers. As for the No. 1 position, A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back look like consistent favorites. Overall, the original trilogy fared strongly as expected.

This week, the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Episode VIII) is expected to release during Star Wars Celebration. Nothing is confirmed, but keep checking Nerd Reactor for updates on anything Star Wars related.
