Donald Glover will play Simba in live-action remake of The Lion King

Disney has made a huge kick the last few years to set out to create live-action remakes of their classic films. From flicks such as 2015’s Cinderella, to last year’s Jungle Book, Disney has their eye on the prize, with their latest animated-turned-live-action film debuting next month, Beauty and the Beast. We’ve known for a bit that Jon Favreau was going to helm one of the live-action adaptations, The Lion King, but it looks as though that he’s so excited about the project, he just announced who will play Simba!

On Facebook today, Favreau posted a picture of none other than Donald Glover, with a caption that hints of his casting choice:

I just can’t wait to be king. #Simba

Favreau also announced who will be playing Mufasa. Any ideas?

Looking forward to working with this legend. #Mufasa
