Matt Reeves in negotiations to direct ‘The Batman’

Although Marvel stole the night with their Avengers: Infinity War announcement, that hasn’t stopped Warner Bros and DC Comics from stealing some of the spotlight. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Warner Bros. has offered The Batman‘s directorial gig to Matt Reeves. Reeves, who directed CloverfieldDawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes, has been offered the job after Warner Bros and Reeves had several conversations throughout the day.

Other directors who were on Warner Bros list were Ridley Scott and Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe).

Warner Bros were quick to find a replacement after Ben Affleck announced that he would be stepping down from the director’s chair in order to perform the role with the “focus, passion and the very best performance I can give.” Reeves has done well with Cloverfield and the Planet of the Apes series so his energy and style should fit The Batman well.

Do you think Matt Reeves will do a good job as the director of The Batman? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section below!

The Batman hits theaters sometime in 2018.
