Peter Capaldi confirms he’ll step down after 2017 Doctor Who Christmas Special

BBC One has announced that Peter Capaldi would step down as the Doctor after the 2017 Christmas Special. Capaldi, who became the Doctor at the end of 2013, said “I feel it’s time to move on.”

Capaldi was on BBC Radio 2 chatting with Jo Whiley and told her that this season will be his last.

With executive producer Steven Moffatt leaving after this season, there were rumors of Capaldi leaving with him to give the upcoming head writer, Chris Chibnall, a fresh start. This will be Moffatt and Capaldi’s last season.

Doctor Who returns April 15th on BBC America/BBC One.
