Windjammers and Ys Origin coming to PS4 and PS Vita next year

While there will always be video games that fans would love to see released, it doesn’t always happen. There is always that chance that it eventually will. During the PlayStation Showcase, Gio Corsi, the senior director of third part production at Sony Interactive Entertainment America, revealed the “building the list” initiative which would take various titles requested by fans and turn them into reality.

Two titles announced for release on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita were the 1994 cult classic NeoGeo arcade title Windjammer and Nihon Falcom’s Ys Origin, which is currently only available on Steam.

Windjammers is a flying disc-based game where the goal is to use your skills and special abilities to score points against your opponent. Think of Ice Hockey only with frisbees and super abilities that can knock your opponent into their goal. The game was developed by Data East, and outside of emulation, arcade, or owning it on a Neo Geo system, you are out of luck. The game will also include an online multiplayer.

While DotEmu is known for porting over classic games to current generation consoles, the other titled revealed was a nice surprise. In 2012, XSEED Games released Ys Origins on Steam, but for some reason never on the PlayStation 3. Until now, the only way to play the game was on PC. Now PlayStation owners will be able to play the game on either their PS4 or Vita when it releases in 2017.
