You have to be pretty nervous if you’re directing a Star Wars film, one that’s part of probably the most beloved and iconic franchises in history. The pressure involved must be unbearable. Gareth Edwards is the director of the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, admittedly not part of the main, numbered Star Wars films, but still a tremendously high-profile project. Most likely, the man’s nervous about the reception his film will garner, but he can probably rest easy the next few days with the praise he’s just received.

ComicBook.com‘s Lucas Siegel attended the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Press Conference at Lucasfilm in San Francisco where Edwards spoke alongside producer Kathleen Kennedy and the stars of the film. Apparently, at the conference, Edwards explained that during press on Friday, he was pulled away for a phone call with none other than George Lucas himself.

He called and spoke with Edwards for about half an hour, a conversation Edwards said he will “cherish and take to [his] grave.” The exchange must’ve gone very well because afterward ComicBook NOW! tweeted, “George Lucas saw #RogueOne two days ago, called Gareth Edwards and, ‘I can die happy now. He loved the movie.'”

To have the creator of Star Wars say that the next Star Wars film is great is a pretty amazing endorsement. Edwards returned compliments and said, “George was always really good at mixing genres together and creating this mythical story that happened to have robots in it.”

Rogue OneĀ tells the story of the small band of rebels that were tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star, as described in the opening crawl from the original film, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. The movie is to be released in the United States on December 16, 2016.
