The mummy is real in the first trailer teaser for Tom Cruise’s ‘The Mummy’
In July 2014, Universal Studios announced that they had tapped Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan to develop their classic movie monsters (Frankenstein’s monster, Count Dracula, the Wolf Man, the Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the Mummy) into a shared cinematic universe. Tom Cruise tweeted the first trailer teaser for the film saying, “I’m excited to help bring The Mummy to life, I can’t wait for you guys to see the full trailer Sunday.” Check it out!
Last year, Alex Kurtzman said that the films in the monster cinematic universe would be a mix of horror and various fictional genres and he wasn’t kidding. The trailer tease certainly has that Indiana Jones vibe along with some horror elements trickled into it. In order to get the gravitas that all cinematic universes should have, Universal has tapped Javier Bardem as Frankenstein’s monster, Sofia Boutella as The Mummy, Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man, and Russell Crowe as Dr. Jekyll. It’s safe to say that Universal isn’t playing around.
Along with the trailer tease, Universal has also given us a brand new poster as well. Check it out!

The Mummy scares theaters on June 9, 2017.
