New details on Tomb Raider movie reboot

Movie reboots are nothing new in Hollywood, but for video game fans, the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has been met with more excitement than most. Starring the white hot Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl), this highly anticipated film should be a fresh retelling of a video game that is over two decades old.

Producer Graham King spoke with HeyUGuys last week and confirmed that the movie will be an origin story, rather a continuation of the previous two films in the series, starring Angelina Jolie. This makes perfect sense, given the recent critical and commercial success of the Tomb Raider video game reboot, that focuses on a young Lara Croft.

Although the film isn’t scheduled to be released until 2018, I am already excited to see what director Roar Uthaug has in store for us. But I’m not holding my breath for a Jon Voight cameo.
