Tower of Terror fans protest against Guardians of the Galaxy ride at Disneyland Resort

Disney’s California Adventure is turning the Tower of Terror ride into the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. It may sound like a good idea, especially with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 coming to theaters next year, but many guests of the park and Disney fans have been really upset.

A video was released that promoted the upcoming ride, and it received three-quarters the dislikes. The critics have even created a petition to plead to Disney to preserve the Tower of Terror. The petition has received over 35,000 signatures, but Disney has already started with the renovation.

Check out the photo below from an Instagram user. As you can see, The Hollywood Tower Hotel sign has been removed.

I took the photo on the left on September 19th 2016. Two days later a friend posted a pic of the TOT and they had removed the Hollywood Tower Hotel sign. This was the beginning of the end for the beloved Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. This is by far the best ride in California Adventure and the only reason I come to that park. After a huge amount of negative fan backlash about them changing the ride to the Marvel themed Guardians of the Galaxy they immediately started the renovation to basically try and stop the protests and on-line petitions some of which had gathered over 35,000 signatures. At the end of the day Disney owns Marvel now and they would rather push their brand than pay for the rights to use the Twilight Zone theme. This goes down as easily one of the worst decisions Disney has ever made. They are now heavily promoting the Tower of Terror as your "last chance" to ride however disrespecting us all by robbing the fans of the full experience by having the building being covered and under construction to turn it into from what the images they released appears to be a giant trash can. I just took the photo on the right today October 17th 2016. It's a sad time for Disney fans. This wouldn't have happened under Walt's watch. #disneyland #californiaadventure #twilightzone #towerofterror

The Tower of Terror ride will be closing in January, so you still have time to experience it before it’s a goner at the Disneyland Resort.
