It was truly a roller coaster of emotion when the popular Discovery show MythBusters aired its final episode on March 6th of this year, only to find out a few weeks later that the Science Channel would be picking the series back up. Tears of sadness turned to tears of joy upon hearing this news. While MythBusters may live on, for now the new show, called MythBusters: The Search, may be more like a spin-off of the original show. This in definitely not a bad thing, as the spin-off bridges the gap until the original show once more makes its return.

MythBusters: The Search is in a unique place. It is going to be a competition style show seeking to find the new hosts for the return of the original MythBusters series. The show will consist of multiple contenders as they showcase their scientific and engineering skills to bust a variety of myths. Each week these contenders will be judged on their performance and work to ultimately decide their fate on the show, as only the best at Myth Busting will have the opportunity to host the revival of the popular TV series

This is going to be intense! Think chopped… but with like metal, gears, electricity, and hopefully lots of crazy (and controlled) destruction!

The Science Channel is working around the clock to get everything set up for the shows premiere. While no date has been set yet, they have just announced that they have found the perfect host for the MythBuster spin-off, the popular science communicator Kyle Hill.

You may recognize Kyle as the host of the YouTube science channel Because Science, or maybe as the science writer for the popular site Nerdist. Maybe you read about him back in 2013, when Wired magazine named him as one of the top science communicators to follow. Kyle Hill is ideal for this position, not only does he have an extensive knowledge of all things MythBuster, but he has a Bachelors in civil and environmental engineering as well as his Masters degree of arts in communication. Kyle often states that it was MythBusters that drove him to change his career path from engineering to science communication.
