Modern Warfare Remastered will require Infinite Warfare to run

call-of-duty

Call of Duty fans old and new have been eagerly anticipating the upcoming release of Modern Warfare Remastered. The game was CoD’s first foray into the modern day setting, and it was an instant hit. While there are many players who still love the fast-paced style current CoD games bring, there’s still countless others that feel the franchise has become too “rinse and repeat.” Even with naysayers, most are still in agreement that Modern Warfare was a quintessential shooter.

With the game getting a remaster and packaged with the special edition version of Infinite Warfare, there was a public outcry begging Activision to sell Modern Warfare on its own. Unfortunately, that isn’t something that would be happening. And if you were hoping to maybe play it without owning Infinite Warfare, then you’re out of luck. According to a particular line on the official Modern Warfare site, you’ll need the Infinite Warfare disc to access the MW game. Here’s the full wording:

At launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will contain only 10 MP maps from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game. Additional MP maps will be made available by 12/31/2016. Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered).

I guess with so many people wanting to play Modern Warfare over Infinite Warfare, it was a smart move on Activision to do this in an effort to inflate sales. As a consumer and fan of MW, I’m quite disappointed as I had no intention whatsoever of purchasing Infinite Warfare, but now I’d have to if I want to play MW. Are you angry that Activision has done this? Let us know in the comments below.
