5 ways to Pokemon when you’re unable to Pokemon GO

Pokémon Go has taken the world by storm, but what is a Pokémon trainer to do when they run out of battery or are just plain unable to log in to the servers? Well I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite Pokémon-themed videos and activities. Enjoy and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Pokémon Origins

Pokémon Origins is a faithful and accurate web series that follows the storyline as if you were playing the original Red and Blue Pokémon Games. The story is told from the perspective of the main character from the games, Red. It nails just about every detail from the game even down to your rival Blue’s trademark line “Smell ya later”.

Now while trying to fit an entire Pokémon game into four 20-to-30-minute videos would be normally impossible, they do so by having certain smaller events narrated by Red. This video sums up the most basic idea of what it’s like to play the original Pokémon games and is a great shortcut to learning about the world of Pokémon for those who never set out to be the very best.

Pokémon Rusty Version

It’s the dream of every 10 year old to set out on a quest to become a Pokemon trainer, Dorkly gives us some insight into a new Trainer Rusty. Pokémon adventures seem to be a bit easy whenever we played the games or watch the animated shows, but we only see a snapshot of travels. Pokémon Rusty version gives us an insight into the life of a trainer that is less than prepared for his journey. If Rusty’s 15-episode adventure proves only one thing, it may be the fact that not all 10 year olds are ready to set out into the world on their own.

Pokémon Shippiddge

Have you ever wondered what the Pokémon are thinking this whole time when we have been capturing and using them to fight our battles? Well filmmaker and Nintendo fanatic Shippiddge has decided to give us his insight into their thoughts, and I promise hilarity ensues. So join Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur for adventure of a new kind, one that you’ve never seen in any Pokémon game before.

Pokémon Animated Series and Movies on Netflix

What would Saturday mornings be without all of our favorite cartoons and live-action shows? Saturday morning cartoons were what got every kid out of bed at the crack of dawn just so they could watch their favorite show. Well you’re temporarily in luck, because thanks to Netflix, we have access to the entire first story arc of the Indigo League, and a few of the Pokémon feature films.

Actual Pokémon Games

Finally if you really want to get the full Pokémon experience, why not take a trip down memory lane with the games that helped establish the Pokémon franchise as a whole? Now while I am definitely enjoying Pokémon GO like most of the world, let’s be honest, it’s more reminiscent of a never-ending trip to the Safari Zone than an actual adventure to catch ’em all. So if you want to get the full features of a Pokémon game such as training your Pokémon, and trading or competing with friends until you become the league champion, then pick your favorite original title and take a stroll down memory lane.
