New trailer for Zhang Yimou’s The Great Wall starring Matt Damon

The Great Wall

Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures have debuted the trailer for The Great Wall, a film starring Matt Damon (Jason Bourne, The Martian) and directed by Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers).

Synopsis: Legendary’s The Great Wall tells the story of an elite force making a valiant stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure.

This will be Yimou’s first English-language production and also the largest film ever shot entirely in China.

The film also stars Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal (HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), Willem Dafoe ( Spider-Man) and Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs).

The screenplay is written by Carlo Bernard, Doug Miro and Tony Gilroy from a story by Max Brooks, Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz. Thomas Tull, Charles Roven, Jon Jashni, Peter Loehr are producing with Jillian Share, Alex Gartner, La Peikang, Zhang Zhao, and E. Bennett Walsh as executive producers.

There is already controversy surrounding this project, as the critics are saying it’s another movie where the “white man” is saving the Asians. (The Last Samurai comes to mind.) Are you looking forward to the film?
