Magical creatures identified in new Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer

The new trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them dropped at San Diego Comic-Con, revealing fresh new footage from the movie to come. Being the Harry Potter nerd that I am, I pulled out my personal edition of Newt Scamander’s Fantastic Beasts to see how many I could identify from the trailer.

The trailer opens with a witness describing the first creature. “It was like a ghost, with shining white eyes and dove underground.” This first one has be a bit stumped and could be a new creature not catalogued in Newt Scamander’s famous text. I think it might be a Tebo which is a dangerous, invisible, ash-coloured warthog. The sound effect from the creature also sounds a bit squeally.

Again, this one is hard to tell but closely resembles a Knarl which most muggles confuse for a hedgehog. We’ll have to get a better glimpse of this one.

This little guy is surely a Billywig – An insect naive to Australia, vivid sapphire blue in color and wings attached to the top of its head.

The Demiguise is a peaceful herbivore with an apelike appearance, large black eyes and silvery fur. They turn invisible when threatened which makes their pelts highly valuable for invisibility cloaks.

Who knows what this swirling mass of terror could be. Newt seems confident he can handle it.
