All three Rurouni Kenshin live-action movies are coming to U.S. theaters


All three live-action Rurouni Kenshin films will be released by Funimation in select theaters beginning in August in Japanese with English subtitles. Beginning on August 8th until the 10th will be Rurouni Kenshin: Origins, followed by Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno on September 12th until the 14th, and finally Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends will screen from October 3rd until the 5th.

Funimation has released the first official movie trailer for Rurouni Kenshin: Origins which was originally released in Japan back in 2012. The movie adapts Nobuhiro Watsuki’s Rurouni Kenshin manga which ran from 1994 to 1999 in Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and saw an anime adaption released, along with a few animated movies.

While the movies have been seen before at special events, this will be the official release of the movies which will also see a home release at a later time. You can find a list of select theaters that will be screening the movie here.
