A fourth Star Trek film could happen, according to J.J. Abrams

Star Trek Beyond opens in theaters next week, but it seems like everyone wanted to know where the franchise stood in terms of the next film. In a press junket for the movie earlier this morning, moderator Scott Mantz asked if we will see an ‘Episode Four’ of the Star Trek films.

J.J. Abrams, who serves as executive producer to the new film, told the audience, “Yes and there is something that we’re hopefully something that we are figurative minutes away from talking about. The answer is 100% YES and it’s incredibly exciting.”

Paramount, who owns the license to the films, have not posted anything regarding Abrams statement.

Star Trek Beyond opens in theaters on June 22nd.
