AMC’s Preacher is renewed for a second season with 13 episodes


Fans of the Preacher series should be very excited today. AMC has announced that the series has been renewed for a second season with 13 episodes. (That’s more than the first season’s 10 episodes.) The new season will premiere in 2017.

Preacher has been the #2 new series on cable in the 18-49 and 25-54 demographic and has been averaging 3.3 millions viewers per episode, with 1.9 million in Nielsen live+3 ratings for the 25-54 age bracket.

If you’re not caught up on Preacher, you can do a marathon of the first give episodes this Thursday, starting at 9pm and ending at 2:35am on Friday morning.

The sixth episode will air this Sunday at 9pm, July 3rd, the day before Independence Day.

The series is based on the comic of the same name by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon and follows a Texas preacher named Jesse Custer who is possessed by a mysterious entity called Genesis that gives him the power to control people via commands. With the help from his ex-girlfriend Tulip and Irish vampire named Cassidy, he will have to navigate the world filled with beings from Heaven and Hell.

The show stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy, Ruth Negga as Tulip, Lucy Griffiths as Emily, W. Earl Brown as Sheriff Root, Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc, Tom Brooke as Fiore, Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenck and Ian Colletti as Eugene/Arseface.
