Ok, so maybe not in the sense that some would think. However, those that were fans of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War will be excited to know that Sony plans not only a whole Spider-Man universe, but also more work with Marvel.

It looks like the upcoming Spider-Man solo film, Spider-Man: Homecoming may be the beginning of more Spidey movies in the future. In an interview, The Hollywood Reporter asked Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Tom Rothman whether the partnership with Marvel includes building a Spider-Man movie universe  and if they would be working with Marvel on other projects.

“Yes to both those questions,” Rothman answered. “It’s been fantastic, our relationship with Marvel.”

Before the partnership, Sony had plans for another Amazing Spider-Man film including a villain-centric Sinister Six spinoff as well as rumors for a Venom solo film and a team film featuring a group of female Spider-Man family characters.

With all of the Spider-Man properties that Marvel owns and the plans Sony had in the works, it is possible that we could see a cinematic Spiderverse come to fruition.
