Check out Outlander’s Brianna Randall and Roger Wakefield

Fans of the Outlander book series rejoice!

We have our Brianna Randall and Roger Wakefield who will be showing up during the second season finale on July 9th. Entertainment Weekly has released the photo of the two important characters, played by Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin.

Just who is Brianna Randall? Brianna is the daughter of Jamie and Claire, who was raised in America by Claire’s first husband Frank. Originally raised in Boston in the books, the writers decided to change her accent to a standard American accent. “There’s been this buildup for so long,” says Skelton, “It’s a scary thought because of things like the fact that Brianna’s from Boston, but we decided not to go with a Boston accent. We just assumed that given how she was raised in a private Catholic school in the ’60s, she sort of had any Boston drummed out of her and she’d be a standard American.”

Roger, adopted son of the Reverend Reginald Wakefield, is a scholar and historian who potentially becomes Brianna’s love interest. For people who have not read the books, Roger holds many secrets that not even he may know. Rankin says of his appearance, “There is so much anticipation for these characters. I really think what we care most about is whether people are going to be happy with these characters that they’ve been waiting two years for.”
