E3: The first 3 ‘Crash Bandicoot’ games are getting remastered

The Bandicoot is back…

Tonight, many fans (including myself) jumped for joy when the Crash Bandicoot theme played at the Sony Press Conference and Shawn Layden’s shadow turned into Crash’s shadow. Activision still owns the rights to the franchise, but they worked a deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment to bring the first three games, Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped to the PS4 next year fully remastered.

Crash will also be a playable character in the new Skylanders game, Imaginators coming out in October. I might have to pick up that sweet figurine! Check out the trailer below:

Personally, Crash was my first favorite video game character when I was a kid. He has had an enormous impact on my gaming life and seeing this announcement made me indescribably happy. Even though we are getting remasters, Activision’s deal with Sony may bring forth a brighter future for the character in the same way the new Ratchet & Clank game did for the series.

Welcome back, Crash. We’ve missed you, old friend.
