The cast of Ghostbusters made an appearance on The Jimmy Kimmel Show in celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the film. During the interview, when asked about the original 1984 classic, Melissa McCarthy said “I was in Plainfield Illinois, I was 14, (and) I may have seen it repeatedly. Like, a lot, in the theater, like a lot, a lot. And, uh, I was slightly obsessed with it.”

When Jimmy Kimmel asked Bill Murray about his thoughts on the new film after seeing it, Murray replied, “When you see the film, you’ll delight in the film. It sort of rumbles along in the beginning, and you’re going ‘Oh God, are they gonna pull this thing off?’, but there is no quit in these girls.” He went on to mention the original cast and final result “Danny, Annie, Ernie and I were just screaming and cheering like we were at a sporting event at the end of it, they just kept going”.

Even though the original cast was publicly hesitant to be involved in any remake of the classic film, they stated that after reading this script, and seeing this cast, they knew it could be done. This should give some hope to the naysayers of the film, and until it comes out, who knows what the results will bring.

The new Ghostbusters comes to theaters on July 15, 2016.
