Fans upset at Konami for reducing Metal Gear Solid to a Pachinko game

Konami is going through changes, and many of them are unwanted by fans. Three things are clear:

  • The company was planning on continuing the Metal Gear Sold franchise after the exit of Hideo Kojima
  • The company was shifting to a bigger focus on smartphone games and Pachinko machines
  • Fans weren’t going to be happy with the direction the company would be heading anytime soon.

And I guess we are 3 for 3 with the announcement of Metal Gear Sold: Snake Eater, the Pachinko game.

Here’s the trailer:

While the trailer looks amazing, it’s wasted on a gambling machine that’s cashing in on a series’ popularity.

As you can imagine, fans aren’t happy and have taken to social media to complain. Konami will have a presence at this year’s E3, so we can only wait and see if they plan on releasing anything outside of mobile games and PES.

If Konami really is going to stop working on video games for consoles, hopefully, they will let other companies work on some great IPs that Konami is just sitting on like Suikoden, Gradius, Contra even Silent Hill or the long requested Zone of the Enders 3.
