Ready at Dawn reveals De·formers, a cartoony arena combat game under GameStop’s GameTrust

Ready at Dawn’s The Order: 1886 is a third-person shooter that was gloomy and pushed the boundaries of photo-realistic graphics for the PlayStation 4. Now the studio is working on a new game that’s completely different with De·formers, a cartoony and vibrant third-person smash ’em arena combat game. Nerd Reactor got the chance to visit Ready at Dawn’s office to check out the upcoming game, and we went toe-to-toe against other journalists.

The game is vivid and features a unique roster of weird creatures called “Forms.” Each Form will be rolling around the arena as they dominate the arena to become the king. Players can throw, shoot or dash at enemies, and for defense, they can jump or block attacks to avoid damage. Shoot the enemies long enough and you can kill them, or you can ram or toss them out of the arena.

There will be items on the ground to help you with health and ammo if those are low, and other objects around the arena will help you grow bigger and stronger, like the remains of your opponent. There are also power-ups that can help change the tide of war, with one making you big and invincible or another allowing you to collect items from far away.

The game is designed to make matches friendly for new players, thanks to the simple game mechanics. You’ll be able to play with your friends or against other players online.

De·formers will be coming to the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game marks the second title under GameStop’s GameTrust division. (The first is Insomniac Games’ Song of the Deep.)
