Hideo Kojima, known for his Metal Gear Solid series, made big news in 2015 when he left his employment with Konami and founded his own studio – Kojima Productions.

Since then, Kojima has been busy at work on a PlayStation 4-exclusive title. This week, in an interview with Famitsu magazine, Kojima and artist Yoji Shinkawa spoke about the studio and its new game.

Kojima said of his new game: “It’s an amazing game. We’re thinking about everything all at once, including the plot, characters, and game systems. Since certain parts are fairly new, we cannot help but experiment.”

Kojima went on to say that the game will likely appeal to those who enjoy games such as The Division and Uncharted. He also said, perhaps in a classic Kojima twist, that the game may appear to be nothing special when it’s announced:

“While not to say that it’s open-world, users who enjoy today’s AAA games (The Division and Uncharted, etc.) will be able to easily enjoy it. When it is announced, you might think ‘that’s not that outstanding,’ but you’ll understand when you see it and play it. The genre is action.”

The interview was originally translated by Gematsu, and the full excerpt can be read, as per their posting, below for further details.
