Nvidia’s GTX 1080 release date and specs announced

I have no idea what the top half of that means, all I know is that I need to buy it!

I have no idea what the top half of that means, all I know is that I need to buy it!

So with the arrival of the Oculus Rift and Vive coming to stores and people receiving them in the mail, people are in the market for brand new video cards, and Nvidia did not disappoint with its new line of GTX 1080 cards.

According to CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, it’s going to offer “anĀ irresponsible amount of performance,” which is the strangest way I’ve heard someone describe a video card, but if his choice of words is anything to reflect on the performance and infrastructure of the card, that hype train just might be real.

Of course, the flip side of that is the comparison to their previous top-of-the-line model, the Titan X, which has got to be a bit of a burn on the enthusiasts who bought it for the 1k price tag while the 1080 only costs $600. Huang also added that the 1080 is faster than two GTX 980s in SLI while at the same time it consumes much less power. It is great for those who are going to be upgrading who don’t want to have to go out and buy another power supply.

2016 seems to be the year of big tech releases, and with the 1080 coming out on May 27th, we might end up seeing some bundles of it and the Oculus Rift and Vive and perhaps other high-tech goodies! So be on the lookout and prepare your tools and wallets for some upgrades!

What do you say to describe a guy who only sleeps 4 days out of the week? Probably a lot but if you ever see an obscure story about some kind of food product, indie game or something that doesn't quite fit on this site, you can (almost) guarantee this guy wrote it. Whether or not he was awake while it was written is anybody's guess.
