Smite Down to add Susano, the Japanese god of storm?

The rumor mill has been swirling around as to who will be the next god to grace their presence in Smite. The majority of the fingers are pointing to one Japanese god in particular, Susano.

Susano is a god of storm, so if the rumors are true and he is the next god to join the fight, I expect a lot of thunder and lighting… very, very frighting when he joins. Or maybe Hi-Rez will just focus on the wind aspect of a storm, who knows.

Totsuka-no-Tsurugi is the name of the weapon that Susano wields in battle, so if I had to take a guess, I would say we’re looking at another warrior on our hands, of course pending rumors. In Japanese lore Susano is the brother of Amaterasu and Tsukiyomi, created by Izangi. From the quick Google search of Susano, I found that he has a very interesting lore. From beef with his sister, Amaterasu, to fighting a dragon, he seems like an interesting character to add to the game. Fans of Naruto will know his name very well, so if he’s popular enough to break into the anime world, Smite should be a no brainer.

I almost wish it wasn’t Susano. I mean don’t get me wrong, I want to see plenty of the Japanese pantheons represented in Smite, but I feel the game has more than its share of weather gods to go around. From Chaac to Zeus, I’m certain that the rain, clouds, wind, and lightning are all well represented in the game. With the long list of Pantheons that the Japanese culture has, I’m sure Hi-Rez can select another fitting god.

Hopefully, we will hear more about Susano from Hi-Rez soon, if the rumors are true, or at least hear about the next god to be revealed. Only time will tell.
