WGN America’s hit new series ‘Underground’ renewed for second season!

It looks like good things come to those who write “good things need to happen”, over and over and over and…wait, that’s not right, is it?

WGN America has just announced that they will be renewing the hit show Underground. The series has drawn over 3 million total viewers on Wednesday nights season-to-date in Live+7 and was the number 1 original scripted series on cable last Wednesday night across all key demographics in Live+3. “With enormous pride we are announcing a second season of Underground, a series that has resonated with so many passionate fans across the country,” said Matt Cherniss, President and General Manager of WGN America and Tribune Studios.

WGN America has created an incredible series this year, showcasing the talents of Noah Aldridge, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and much more, in the hit drama Underground. Produced by John Legend and his team, the series centers on a group of slaves planning a daring 600-mile escape from a Georgia plantation. Along the way, they are aided by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad as they attempt to evade the people charged with bringing them back, dead or alive.

Underground airs Wednesdays nights on WGN America.
