David S. Goyer’s Superman prequel, Krypton, close to getting pilot on Syfy

DC characters have been dominating the networks with Supergirl on CBS, The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow on The CW, and Lucifer and Gotham on Fox. Now it looks like Krypton is moving forward with reports of Syfy getting ready for the pilot order. Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer and the network have brought on Damian Kindler (Sleep Hollow) as the show’s executive producer and showrunner. Both Kindler and Goyer will be rewriting the pilot episode with Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) directing.

The series will take place two generations before the annihilation of Kal-El’s home planet, Krypton, and will follow his grandfather as he tries to redeem the House of El.

Gotham takes place before Bruce Wayne becomes Batman, but we already have characters like Mr. Freeze, Dr. Hugo Strange, the Penguin and Riddler already becoming super villains. Will we get to see the same thing with Superman’s rivals on the show? If so, what do you think of the idea?
