Batman v Superman exceeds $530 million worldwide despite poor reviews
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the perfect example of how moviegoers aren’t too concerned with critic reviews when throwing their money at Warner Bros. The film has grossed $12.2 million nationwide on Tuesday, topping The Hunger Games’ $10.3 million Tuesday record in March back in 2012.
The film’s box office gross now totals at $201.3 million nationwide as of today. Add that to the international box office numbers, and the worldwide total is $530.4 million. The week isn’t even over yet.
Here are some records for the film:
- $166.1 million domestic box office opening gross with the best pre-summer opening (The Hunger Games was the previous record holder with $152.5 million)
- Largest Easter opening (Furious 7’s $147.2 million was the previous record holder)
- Largest DC film opening (The Dark Knight Rises was the previous record holder with $160.9 million)
- Biggest March opening (The Hunger Games had the previous record)
- Seventh-highest domestic opening after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2‘s $169.2 million
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
