Title and concept art revealed for the ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ sequel

Coming off the unexpected success of Kingsman: The Secret Service, Fox announced late last year that a sequel to the spy comedy will be released in 2017. Julianne Moore and Halle Berry will be joining returning cast members Taron Edgerton, Mark Strong, and potentially Colin Firth.

In this month’s issue of Empire (via CBM), it was revealed that the official subtitle of Kingsman 2 will be Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The film will focus on the destruction of Kingsman headquarters and Statesman headquarters (the American equivalent of the Kingsman). It’s after the attack that Eggsy and Merlin head to the U.S. to team up with the CIA’s “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy” Jack and Ginger (Halle Berry). Both organizations will team up to go against the main villain, Poppy (Julianne Moore).

Vaughn also told Empire that he had been hesitant about returning to direct the Kingsman sequel because “spy films are only as good as their villains.” However, Vaughn was able to figure the “villain plot” and thus able to return for the sequel. Vaughn also emphasized that while The Golden Circle will feature its fair share of mind-blowing action sequences, the film won’t attempt the film’s “church massacre” scene. “You try not to read what people want, but they do want another church sequence. I have no reason for another massacre to happen. But I have other sequences you’ve never seen before.”
