Peter Serafinowicz to play The Tick in new series

Peter Serafinowicz The Tick

Sorry, Patrick Warburton fans. Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures have found its lead for the new The Tick series. Peter Serafinowicz, who can be seen in Guardians of the Galaxy, will be playing the Tick.

Warburton is involved, but he’ll be the show’s executive producer. Ben Edlund, who created The Tick, will also be executive producer and writer for the series. They’ll be joined by Barry Josephson, who worked as an executive producer along with Edlund from the previous series.

The show will also star Griffin Newman (Vinyl) as Arthur Everest, The Tick’s sidekick, and Valorie Curry (House of Lies) as Dot, Arthur’s sister.

Edlund created The Tick in 1986 originally as a mascot for New England Comics. In 1988, the character got his own comic book. He then got his own animated show in 1994, lasting two seasons and 36 episodes, with a live-action show starring Warburton in 2001 that was canceled after only nine episodes.

The pilot for the new show will be directed by Wally Pfister (Transcendence).
