There are many fans out there who are disappointed with Frozen taking over the Aladdin stage musical at Disney California Adventure. However, those looking forward to the new show should be happy to know that it’s coming really soon. It has been announced that “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” will be opening on May 27, 2016. The show will incorporate special effects as it takes audiences on an emotional journey with Anna and Elsa.

The theater seats 1,873 people and will take advantage of the whole space. The interior will be entirely wrapped, immersing fans in the world of Frozen. To make the event even more magical, there will be snow on stage and over the audience.

Puppet designer Michael Curry will be working on bringing Olaf and the Trolls to the stage. He co-designed the puppets of “The Lion King” on Broadway.

Disney Creative Entertainment, a division of Walt Disney Imagineering in charge of live theatrical entertainment at Disney Parks, is producing the show. The musical is directed by Liesl Tommy (Broadway’s Eclipsed) from a screenplay by Chad Beguelin (“Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” at Hyperion Theater; Broadway: “Gotta Dance,” “Aladdin,” “The Wedding Singer,” “Elf”).

“While our production of ‘Frozen’ will stay true to the heart and soul of the film, we have adapted it for the stage so it’s truly a musical theatre production that befits our beautiful Hyperion Theater” said Dana Harrel, creative entertainment executive with Walt Disney Imagineering. “The goal of this creative team is to take all audiences – including those that know the film, and those new to these characters – on this exciting and touching adventure with Anna and Elsa.

If that’s not enough for fans, there will be another Broadway production of “Frozen” from Disney Theatrical Productions. It’ll be joining Disney Theatrical’s New York productions of “Aladdin” and “The Lion King” in spring 2018. Denver will be receiving a pre-Broadway engagement in summer 2017.
