Star Fox Zero coming April 22, includes Star Fox bonus game

Star Fox Zero is arriving on the Nintendo Wii U on April 22, 2016, but it won’t be the only Star Fox game being released.

During the Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that the 2014 Wii Tech Demo, developed by Shigeru Miyamoto and known as “Project Guard,” will be released as Star Fox Guard.

The game has you strategically use security cameras to ward off enemy attacks in more than 100 levels. The game will be bundled with Star Fox Zero and will also be available for digital download via the Nintendo eShop.

We also learned some new information about Star Fox Zero in the presentation. Two players can enjoy the game at the same time, with one piloting the arwing and the other handling the shooting, making it easier to take down enemies with each person focusing on different duties.

Star Fox Zero will also feature alternate routes, based on how you play and proceed, similar to Star Fox 64, so trying different things will reward you with new bosses and more areas to explore including the new stage that was revealed in the direct.

Finally, Star Fox Zero will feature amiibo support. Using the Fox amiibo unlocks a retro version of the Arwing from the first Star Fox game on the Super Nintendo, with more bonus features to be announced later.
