Nickelodeon to produce ‘Legends of the Hidden Temple’ as a TV movie

Nickelodeon’s game show Legends of the Hidden Temple has joined the likes of The X-Files, Fuller House, and Gilmore Girls in the 90s and early 2000s revival trend. The popular 90s game show will return to Nickelodeon as a live-action TV movie alongside a 2-part movie of Hey Arnold! (based on the animated series that ran from 1996 to 2004).

According to Variety, who first released the news this morning, Legends of the Hidden Temple will be about “three siblings [who] must conquer a series of obstacles to remain alive, mirroring the theme of the original game show.” Set to hit the small screen late this year, the film will take elements from the original show including the iconic “Olmec, a talking head who knows the secrets behind the temple; the Steps of Knowledge, the entrance to the temple and launching pad for the mission; and cameos from a green monkey, red jaguar and silver snakes, among others.”

Nickelodeon star Isabela Moner (“100 Things to Do Before High School”) is set to lead with director Joe Menendez (“Ladrones”, “From Dusk Till Dawn”) to helm the feature written by Jonny Umansky, Zach Hyatt, and Alex Reid (“The Middle”, “Malcolm in the Middle”).

It’s certainly the age of nostalgia with all these classics making a comeback. Whether they should come back is another conversation entirely, but personally, I’m excited to relive my childhood again.
