MTG: The ‘Vault’ is re-opened as Magic announces latest set

From dragons to angels, From the Vault has been a consistent set release that many fans have anticipated year in and year out. Re-releasing cards that once held its own with powerhouses such as Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and Child of Alara, to the completely overpowered Mystical Tutor and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, From the Vault has made a conscientious to bring back cards to the standard format that completely changes the way we’ve played the game. Now, it’s time to get ourselves prepared because the next set is right around the corner.

Wizards of the Coast has just announced the latest installment to the always surprising series called Lore. The set will contain fifteen premium foil cards and one token, with three of those cards sporting new artwork. These cards will be using a foil process unique to the FTV series, making this a stand-out set, like the sets before it. Along with the set will also include an exclusive Spindown life counter and a collector’s guide.

Unfortunately, we do not have any reveals of the cards quite yet, but Wizards wouldn’t leave us hanging out to dry just like that. With the announcement comes an image for the set depicting an unknown creature holding something. Fans will be quick to notate that this isn’t just any creature, but Momir Vig, Simic Visionary from the 2006 expansion to Ravnica: City of Guilds, called Dissension. So it seems that Magic plans to possibly reprise such notable cards from the set as Avatar of Discord, Pride of the Clouds, Spell Snare, and of course, Rakdos Augermage. We’ll see as announcements continue to pour out, and we begin to see spoilers further out in the year.

From the Vault: Lore is set to be released August 19th, 2016.
