With excitement over the Vive ensuing ever since it was first announced, speculations and rumors have been swirling. However, the day is finally hear and you can now order your very own HTC Vive as of today. But how much will it cost though and when can you expect to get it?

The HTC Vive will go on pre-order starting today, February 29, at 10AM eastern time, on HTCVive.com. Much like the Occulus Rift, which is also available for pre-order, the Vive will ship in the Spring. Unlike the Rift, the Vive will cost a whopping $800, not including shipping, here in the U.S. This is a bit more than the Oculus Rift, which will only cost you a mere $600. The reason behind the price jump? While the Vive comes with motion controllers and all the hardware needed to use them, the Rift only comes with an Xbox One controller. The Rift motion controllers will be released at a later date. Just like the Rift, HTC won’t charge you for the device at the time of pre-order, but instead will charge you closer to the shipping date.

The Rift may be cheaper than the Vive, but make sure to do your research to find which one is right for you. At those price points, it may be worth it to spend that extra $200 for the more superior VR experience. Will you be shelling out the $800 for the Vive? Keep the conversation going in the comments below.
